VIETNAM – The beating of the “Gong”, Indonesia instrument, by the Indonesian Consul General of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Agustaviano Sofjan and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Can Tho City, Mr. Duong Tan Hien marked the opening of the 2022 Indonesia Festival at Can Tho City which took place on 17-18th December 2022 at Luu Huu Phuoc Park, Can Tho City.

The location of the festival which is in the central park of the city is a special attraction for the public/city people. This festival is also the first festival held by a foreign institution after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The community seemed excited to taste some of Indonesian specialties such as satay and ketoprak and enthusiastically took part in cooking demonstrations of Indonesia noodle, fried rice, cashew nuts, lime leaves, and papeda. To liven up the atmosphere, visitors are also invited to poco-poco and singing dangdut.

Indonesian local products displayed include coffee, tea, chocolate, and the most important Indonesia authentic spices which bring us to the bazaar. Myibu, Cangkir Mas, and Jagur participated in the festival. The responses we got from the community were positives and they are liking our red ginger.

Organizing this Festival involves the participation of various parties, both companies from Indonesia, distributors of Indonesian products in Viet Nam, Bank Indonesia institutions with their MSME products, Indonesian diaspora at HCMC and Vietnam USSH students and HCMC Open University who perform Indonesian dances. The festival also invites the participation of companies, Can Tho City University and cultural arts performances to enliven the festival and strengthen people-to-people contact.
