September 29, 2022 – Affogato means drowned in Italian. It is a very simple dessert of gelato that gets topped with a shot of espresso. It tastes creamy, cold, sweet, and bitter. To celebrate Christmas season which will come soon, we will try to recreate affogato with mixed of red ginger lemon from Myibu and cinnamon. It adds warm sensation to the cold dessert. A very delicious dessert! Serve with seasonal cookies or biscuits to make it really feel like complete dessert.

Red Ginger Affogato

Here are the ingredients:
• 1 cup water
• 1 ½ tablespoon Myibu Red Ginger Lemon
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 3 whole cloves
• 1 ½ cup hot water
• 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
• 2 slices of lemon
• 1 pint vanilla ice cream

For the syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the water, cinnamon, and cloves over medium heat. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Take the pan off the heat and allow the syrup to cool, about 20 minutes. Then mixed the syrup with the Myibu Red Ginger Lemon.
For the espresso: In a 1-cup glass measuring cup, whisk together the boiling water and espresso powder, until dissolved.
Scoop the gelato into glass. Pour 1/4 cup of the syrup, Myibu Red Ginger Lemon and 2 tablespoons espresso. Serve immediately.
